Paul D. Dumont is an accomplish Doctor of Oriental Medicine, educated and trained at the prestigious Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, NM. Southwest Acupuncture College is one of the oldest and most respected educational institutions of Oriental Medicine in the United States. His honors level work was recognized in 2005 when he was awarded the Thaddeus Bukowski Scholarship “In Recognition of Showing Promise as an Outstanding Practitioner”. Paul furthered his education by completing internships both in Vietnam and the United States, with a focus on treating pain and psychological disorders using acupuncture and Chinese herbs.
Dr. Dumont has learned a comprehensive set of acupuncture modalities which provide his patients with effective and competent care. His training includes YNSA Scalp Acupuncture, Chinese Scalp Acupuncture, the Hari System, Manaka’s System-Ion Pumping Cords, Japanese Meridian Therapy, and Dr.Travell’s Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy. His success in effectively treating his patients comes from his unique background and nature concerning human suffering. At a young age he was profoundly affected by the psychological, emotional and physical pain he witnessed. At the age of 20 he entered into a private theological institute and graduated in 1985. He spent the next 22 years ministering to those who suffered spiritually and emotionally. These years gave him an uncanny ability to communicate and listen to his patients on a personal level, and to identify with their health concerns. His skills in interpersonal communication provide immense health benefits to his patients by bringing chronic health or emotional issues into focus in a way that comforts and provides hope to his patients and facilitates the most effective treatment plan.
Dr. Paul Dumont lives in the beautiful South Valley of Albuquerque, New Mexico with his wife Lorrie of 25 years. He is dedicated to his flourishing practice, Westside Family Acupuncture, and his community work. He is a community leader teaching and promoting health education, and the effectiveness of Oriental Medicine.
